Voice Consent & Acceptable Use Policy

Version 2026-10-08 · Part of every Dublayer customer agreement

In one paragraph

Dublayer recreates real people's voices. You may only clone a voice when that person has clearly agreed, you must own or be licensed to use the video, and you must be open with your audience that the dub is AI-generated. We do not allow impersonation, deception, fraud, sexual content of real people or political manipulation, and we suspend accounts that break these rules.

1. Speaker consent

  • Every speaker, not only the main one. Before a speaker's voice is cloned, you must have the explicit, informed consent of that person for their voice to be reproduced in other languages and for the uses you intend (for example, publishing on your channel). This includes guests, interviewees and anyone else who speaks in the video.
  • Recorded per speaker. In Dublayer you confirm consent for each detected speaker. Where you are asked, you add a reference to the evidence (a signed release, a contract clause or a recorded agreement). Speakers without confirmed consent are not cloned; they are dubbed with a neutral voice or left out.
  • Keep the proof. You must keep evidence of each consent for as long as the dubbed content is available and for a reasonable period afterwards, and show it to us if we ask in connection with a complaint.
  • Withdrawal. If a speaker withdraws consent, you must tell us without delay; we delete their voice profile and you stop creating new dubs with it. Content already published is your responsibility under your agreement with the speaker.
  • Minors. A voice of a person under 18 may only be cloned with the documented consent of their parent or legal guardian.
  • Deceased persons. A voice of a deceased person may only be cloned with the authorisation of whoever holds the rights to it under applicable law.
  • Voice actors and performers. If a speaker's performance is covered by a contract, union agreement or performer's rights, you are responsible for making sure AI dubbing is permitted under it.

2. Rights in the content

You must own the video and its soundtrack, or hold a licence that allows you to translate and dub it. Music and effects are kept from your original mix; you remain responsible for any music licences that apply to the dubbed versions.

3. Prohibited uses

You may not use Dublayer, or any output from it, to:

  • clone or imitate anyone's voice without their consent, or pass off synthetic speech as a real recording of someone;
  • impersonate politicians, candidates, public officials or public figures, or create content intended to influence elections or referendums, even with authorisation;
  • deceive people about whether content is AI-generated, or remove or tamper with the AI marking in outputs;
  • commit or facilitate fraud, scams, phishing or social engineering, including fake calls or messages in someone's voice;
  • get around voice-based authentication or any security system;
  • create sexual or intimate content involving a real person's voice, or any content that sexualises minors;
  • harass, threaten, defame or bully anyone, or produce hateful or violent extremist content;
  • infringe copyright, trademarks, personality or publicity rights, or anyone's privacy;
  • create news or documentary content that puts words a person did not say into their mouth;
  • break any applicable law, including data protection and consumer protection law;
  • attack, probe or overload Dublayer systems, or try to extract or copy the models running on your server.

4. AI disclosure

  • Dublayer marks its audio outputs as AI-generated in a machine-readable form, in line with Article 50(2) of the EU AI Act. You must not remove or alter this marking.
  • When you publish dubbed content, you must disclose that the voices were generated or altered by AI, in a way your audience can see (for example, in the description or on screen), and use the synthetic-content labels of the platform you publish on (such as YouTube's "altered or synthetic content" setting). For artistic, creative or fictional works, the disclosure may be made in a way that does not get in the way of the work.

5. Enforcement

If we reasonably believe this policy has been broken, we may ask for evidence of consent, require content to be taken down, suspend processing on your server or end the agreement, and we may cooperate with the people affected and with authorities. You are responsible for, and will indemnify us against, claims arising from content you dub without the necessary consents or rights, as set out in your agreement.

6. Report misuse

If you believe your voice, or content you own, has been used with Dublayer without permission, write to hello@dublayer.studio with a link to the content and how to reach you. We will acknowledge your report within 2 business days and keep you informed of what we do.
